When it comes to the Nature vs Nurture conversation, I find a lot of the time people often excuse and attach negative behavioural traits to genetics, rather than the inability to nurture the more productive and progressive parts of ones nature. The average person has experienced a certain level of dysfunction in the family and social environment, which most likely stems from cycles of generational traumas that are difficult to break.
A lot of people don’t realise that the power to dismantle such cycles comes from within, the answer usually lies in the problem.
One of the most important things to know when considering your productive wellbeing, whether we’re talking spiritual, psychological, emotional, financial and social, is how to self actualise through self reflexivity. The ability to look inward and constructively critique ones nature in order to better the outcomes of ones life / actions; improving the probability of having a positive affect on society as a whole.
We all have distinctive traits and gifts that make us who we are and take us towards desired paths that bring out those talents, helping us make proper use of them.
An old mentor of mine told me ” Do you know how to know what your calling is? When you see something done wrong that makes you angry, and emotionally moved to be hyper critical. You feel this way because you have the answer to the problem. You can fix it.”
Now I know that it is not every “problem” in life we have the capacity to fix or solve, but the one that makes you most passionate, that’s probably an inkling towards your talent.
in accordance with the nature of, or circumstances surrounding, someone or something.
a person having an innate talent for a particular task or activity.
care for and protect (someone or something) while they are growing.
Nurture What Comes Naturally:
1: What do you do most instinctively that brings you joy?
2: What do people tend to praise you for?
3: What traits to people admire in you?
4: What do people tend to need you most for?
